Notte Snippet: The Golden Man Has a Temper
The golden man did not expect me to try to bite his throat. No one expects that, generally.

Success is not a secret - and failure isn't what you think it is.
The lovely and brilliant Dawn Metcalf (who wrote truly unique and beautiful book, if you haven't read it yet) has tagged me for The Next Big Thing, wherein I explain the project I'm working on. I'm severely late in answering her, because of reasons. ;) However, it's still my pleasure to explain.
First up, business (and hopefully some pleasure): now through February, you can get an autographed copy of The Sundered for only eleven dollars, including shipping and handling. This is a great deal! Jump on it while you can.
I have succeeded. Notte's novel is only about halfway done. It's tying in with the Sundered sequel, too. I may be at this for a while.
More from Notte! It's unedited, etc. I'm still behind on words, but that is okay. I'm making great progress.
“Keep up, idiot,” Re muttered, and I shook myself from my wonder to trot beside him.
Unedited snippet. The scene makes me simultaneously wince and laugh. Enjoy!
Fair warning: this is almost completely unedited, beyond a quick skim for typos (which I probably missed anyway). That's okay. First drafts are what they are.
Fantabulous author Beth Revis is offering the most amazing contest ever for FIFTY autographed amazing YA books!
Do the hard thing — that's where we grow. If you do that, you'll never have to worry about restlessness or feeling like your life has a purpose.
I haven't done a snippet in a while. Here you go - the opening to my next WIP, Notte. Notte. My friend, I ask that you pardon my strange manner…
It's like some kind of old-timey riddle: name a thing we all wish we had, yet hate when we see it in other people? Yup, you guessed it: confidence.
Each time you get a "no," it can really feel like that was it - the end. You will get another chance. I'm going to share two really simple (though challenging) things that kept me going through all the "no's," until I finally had my "yes."
I blame movies. All my scenes tend to have music. I don't always listen to it when I'm writing or editing, but I almost always do it better when I have mad tunes playing. (Warning: YouTube links abound. What, you didn't think I'd mention music without giving you a chance to HEAR it, did you?)
Family life, work life, and creative life form a crazy-nasty juggling act. The good news is, it's possible. What's required is self-control - and not the way you might think.
Lemme tell ya something: you are never going to make everyone happy.
The awesome and wonderful Pavarti K Tyler tagged me in a blog series called The Next Big Thing, and she's sent me ten nifty questions regarding my next book. Thus, I bring you... answers! :)
I love Sue Grafton's work. I respect her as a person. However, some of the statements she made in a recent interview... Wow. Ouch.
The final interview and reviews are up! Be sure to comment for a chance to win a $5 or $50 Amazon gift card!
