Not an Easy Announcement

Many of you noticed that Gorishfish disappeared for… well, a couple of months. There’s a reason for this. It’s time to explain it all.

The Details

Some of you know that my husband has been extremely ill since January.

It’s a mystery illness. Not even the Mayo Clinic has been able to figure it out. Mind you, they’re still trying; but right now, our jokes about “They’re just going to have to name the illness after you” are beginning to seem a little too real.

I’m deeply grateful we have the Mayo near us, for the record, but it’s been hell on our schedule.

To put this in perspective, we bought a brand-new car in mid-June. It is now October, and we have put 8,500 miles on it. We both work from home. We don’t have time go play; there are no epic road trips happening. That is almost entirely mileage due to various doctor’s visits all over Phoenix and the surrounding area.

You might say we’re a little desperate for answers.

So how does this affect you?

In a way that’s really, really hard for me to type: I’m going to have to delay Notte’s release.

I so wanted to get that book out by December. In fact, it would’ve already been ready to go without all this happening; but I just don’t have the time right now to devote to writing and editing the book; my emotional cache is pretty much devoted to the love of my life, who’s suffering.

I’ve never had to delay a book release before. This sucks.

So here’s what I’m going to do.

The giveaway proceeds as scheduled. I’m not going to deny contest winners just because things are crazy over here. Also, I’m going to plan for a release party with more prizes and gifts when the book IS released.

You can also count on more short stories, since they’re something I can still produce with all this going on.

I apologize. At least Gorishfish is coming out to play again.

I’ll make it up to you, dear reader. I just need a little more time.
