About Ruthanne

“OH, PLOT AND WORLD AND HISTORY ARE EXPLAINED BEAUTIFULLY, AND THAT AND THE MAGIC ARE JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE MYTHOS COMPLETE AND EXQUISITE.”

– ericketavi, review of The Most Important Word

” THIS IS THE DEFINITION OF ‘CAN’T PUT DOWN,”‘AND ITS NOVELLA LENGTH MADE IT SO I LITERALLY DIDN’T DO ANYTHING ELSE UNTIL I FINISHED.”

– Author Adriene Brooke, review of The Almost-Wedding of John Barron Grey

” IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! WHAT A SATISFYING ENDING, A NICE TWIST WITH A GREAT DRAMATIC ACTION SEQUENCE… I DON’T WANT TO RUIN IT TOO MUCH, JUST READ THIS BOOK!”

Short Bio

Indie author. Spouse of geek. Mother of cats. SSJTrinity on AO3. She/her. Daily pep-talks for creatives. Owns a lot of things that need to be plugged in.

Medium Bio

Ruthanne Reid has led panels on world-building, taught courses on plot and character development, and been the keynote speaker for the Write Practice Retreat. Author of nine books and dozens of short stories, she creates daily videos to help other creatives get unblocked and into a healthy habit of creation.

She has lived in her head since childhood, when she used up her mom’s red typewriter ribbon on a story about a pony princess and a genocidal snake-kingdom. When she isn’t reading, writing, or reading about writing, Ruthanne enjoys old cartoons with her husband and cats, and dreams of living on an island beach far, far away.

P.S. Red is still her favorite color.

Long Bio

Ruthanne Reid eschews most labels. Except for being a Generation X-er; a musician with baggage; a self-taught graphic artist who designs her own covers; a warrior wrestling arthritis not unlike the Nemean lion; a rabid shipper who’s too smart to lay out precisely which ships because of the wars; and an avid reader.

You know. Unlabelable.

A fanfic writer and bestselling author of nine books and fifty-plus short stories, Ruthanne Reid has lived in her head since childhood, when she wrote her first story about a pony princess and a genocidal snake-kingdom and used up her mom’s red typewriter ribbon in the process. As an adult, she has led a convention panel on world-building, taught courses on plot and character development, and been the keynote speaker for the Write Practice Retreat.

When she isn’t reading, writing, or reading about writing, Ruthanne enjoys horror podcasts, and dreams of living on an island beach far, far away. A loving mom to two cats, she is happily married to a fellow geek who loves good stories and great games as much as she does. Between the two of them, they own a lot of things that need to be plugged in.
