2. Ideas That Sell Are Not Always Groundbreaking, by Lydia Sharp. “What gives any novel the impact of the new is something that does not come from plot or milieu but from a perspective: yours.” (Donald Maass)

3. The Long and Short of It, by Janice Hardy. Fact: There is little financial advantage to selling short fiction, and while it does take time away from your “big” projects, the writerly benefits are far-reaching. These three posts together have me thinking a lot. They’ve encouraged me and lit a fire under my feet. I hope they do the same for you.
