Links ‘N Stuff

Still recovering from massive family trip, so pardon me if I’m a bit woozy. :D

Got all my holiday pictures up: http://flickr.com/photos/doortoriver/

Weird thing: I think I may have actually written a large part of book three instead of book two. Which is… good? I hope?

Here come some links, stolen largely from Jay Lake and Colleen Lindsay:

When things go wrong with urban fantasy. Great little article/rant.

Flash Spider. Maybe the creepiest thing I’ve seen all day.

For the lighthouse fans: Lighthouse devoured by sand and Polar Nuclear Lighthouses.

Have you guys SEEN Ask a Ninja? (Don’t click if you have no tolerance for the humor of the hyperactive extreme kind.)

Interesting post – The Book Biz’s Self-Fulfilling Prophecy? There is so much craziness going on right now regarding publishing it’s not even funny. This is just one of the many opinion pieces out there. Is it really time to panic about the death of the printed book? I don’t know – but I DO know the time to ask is NOT in the middle of a recession.

Duh.

And, in the spirit of the (belated) holiday season, an amusing recollection from Neil Gaiman: Hanukkah with bells on.

Lastly… this puzzles me: “Fronta Nulla Fides” – in essence, “Don’t trust in appearances.” Which is nifty… and on every service and elevator door in the Beresford, a historical building in NYC.

"Fronta Nulla Fides" - Don't trust in appearances.

It’s a fascinating and weird choice for the motto of a building. Any ideas why it’s there?
